Instructors & Staff
We are very proud of our Camp Weloki staff and all the wonderful energy and loving compassion they bring to our campers. Many of our staff who return year after year were once former campers themselves before they were picked to become part of our staff. They are always exceptional people with many skills and talents to share and are exceptionallycommitted to children and their well-being.
We have college students, teachers and business people that share in the missions of Camp Weloki and help each summer at our camp sessions. All staff have been screened with criminal background checks and have personal interviews with our directors. They attend our camp staff retreat each year and are encouraged to work on their own personal growth so they may be fully present and available to the children we work with at camp.
Most of our staff have been with us for over 5 years. We have a mix of age groups in our staff ranging from twenty year olds to people in their fifties. We also have a few Counselors in Training (CIT's) each session. These are usually high school age kids who have demonstrated great leadership abilities and a strong commitment to serving children. They also have been campers for many years and understand the camp process.
Our staff are essential in helping the children and teenagers feel connected and special while creating a fun atmosphere in which to learn and grow. All of our staff contain the natural ability to engage every camper and to bring out the best in them. They work tirelessly from sun up to lights out to be sure every camper has the best week of their lives. Because of their commitment and the way they treat campers, many of our campers come back year after year and want to become part of our staff when they are mature enough.
